A seed and plant swap will be held at the Grange, 609 S. 3rd Avenue in Hailey, on Saturday April 25 from 11 am to 12 noon, organized in collaboration with the Wood River Seed Library (WRSL), and will benefit the Hunger Coalition. Members of the WRSL are Seed Librarians dedicated to saving locally adapted seeds, and contributing to a local seed bank. Several avid local gardeners, including farmers Miles Teitge and Julie Fox, will be onsite to answer questions about gardening in our high desert climate, composting and seed saving. The community is invited to bring their extra seeds, seedlings, and perennial plant such as rhubarb, strawberries, bulbs, or any gardening pots and accessories they no longer use, to swap for other things. Nothing to exchange? come anyway and leave a donation (money or non-perishable food) for the benefit of the Hunger Coalition and its Hope Garden. Or “borrow” some seeds, plant them and, at the end of the season, save seeds if you can and share them with your friends and neighbors and / or join the WRSL. If you are a musicians, you are welcome to bring your instrument and play music, or sing and add a note of festivity to the event, as your way of swapping for some seeds or plants.
